John D. Rockefeller
John D. Rockefeller was born on July 8, 1839 in Richford, New York. The Rockefeller family moved to Cleveland Ohio in 1853. A couple years later at age 16 Rockefeller worked at a Cleveland Commission firm where he was an office clerk. This is what made Rockefeller want to go into the business field some more. Soon in 1859 America's first oil was drilled and Rockefeller along with his other partners entered the oil industry and together they formed the Standard Oil Company. He made millions in the oil industry by buying up individual oil companies so then he could control the entire industry. As Rockefeller's company sold more and more oil, he could set prices lower than those of his competitors. At the time, Rockefeller became one of the richest men alive.
