The flapper Movement
The flapper movement was when women threw away traditional customs and started doing what they wanted to do. For example, they cut their hair shorter, their dresses got shorter, they began smoking and drinking publicly more often, and they went out at night. The things that women are usually known to do, the flappers changed those things. During this time, women were expected to have jobs like being a teacher or secretary. Also, they couldn't do many things like go out at night. Well, this changed because of the flapper movement. Women started to do whatever they felt like doing and it was inspiring. All of these women basically started a "rebellion" to get all of their own rights. What motivated them to do this was the women's suffrage movement. They thought, 'If we got ourselves voting rights, why stop now?'. So they formed the flapper movement which was a successful event for women.
